BIG Weekend in terms of shaping things up in the AA south:

Campo locks up the 3rd seed in the south (assuming McAdam and Harvey finish 1-2) with two narrow wins over GM and Fundy each by two.

McAdam restablishes their mojo winning thier tournament. Its not a league win but Harvey has yet to beat them this year.

Final playoff spot will be decided Friday night in GM. A GM win or loss by less than 6 locks up the final spot. (Since the've beaten this team 3 times this year I would say this is pretty safe.)

Most likely final standings in the south:

1-McAdam
2- Harvey
3 - Campo
4 - GM

The Fundy GM game has been postponed to a later date.

Why was Harvey missing these three guys? Certainly explains the close game.

You mean quit?

I have really enjoyed watching Harvey play this year, great intensity and passing. Hard working team with terrific sight of the floor left and right.

What about the other two guys?

GM is the team that only plays as well as the team they are playing. Been that way since I was playing. Don't under estimate them, you never know when they will get the job done.

Ths is unreal, McAdam over GM by only 13, Harvey by 4 over Fundy.

Somone tell us what is going on here. I have watched Fundy and GM, no disrespect but I expected McAdam by 30+ and Harvey by the same.

Warrior get back to me man.

I wouldn't want to speak for GM and wasn't at either game but I can say that both GM and FUndy are fairly heavy with younger players (11's, 10's) who were at the Varsity level for the first time this year. Also between fishing/ soccer both schools have kids miss time early or start later then most high school programs. So as the year goes on and they get into shape and some experience they have gotten stronger.

That being said in the Harvey game Harvey was missing a number of their bigs who play major minutes and help them dominate. As it was explained to mme Harvey struggled to find their rhythm early but then slowly came back and ground out the win after being in a big hole early. So it was probably a case of a bad start and overcoming some missing players. GM has played MCAdam tough both time this year it may be a matchup issue??

I gotta agree with Coach DJR on this one, give the Breakers of GM credit they are young and scrappy. They may lack a bit on offense but they make up for it with hustle defence... I have'nt seen Fundy play yet, we expect a similar game from them..... Most young teams with good coaching get better as the year goes on. This is the third time McAdam has beaten GM this year and each game was relatively close, margins of 8,11 and 12.

Harvey seems to be dealing with a bit of decension...One of their best players quit and now he's back and apparently others on the team are not happy??? That being said they have a ton of talent and if they can pull together they will be a tough team to beat. Moral of the story.... All teams from here on out will be ready to play.. Don't ever underestimate your opponent!!
Has DP played GM or Fundy this year???

It's a private Christian school. If you have the money you can attend. They would have the right to refuse you, if they chose.

I remember when I played aganist DP way back in the day (early 90's) they were two different teams at home and away.
That gym of thiers... it was almost impossible to beat them in it.

The answer to all of the above questions is yes:
-Their coach is (IMO) one of the best young coaches in the region.
-Their top players have at some point done one or more of the following: Centre for Performance, Provincial Teams, Bantam Elite, Summer Club Teams, lifted weights/done sport specific atheltic training on their own.
- Their parents are sending them to private school because they believe in the advantages it offers, it would seem reasonable that this would translate to basketball as well.
- Living in the Fredericton area they not only have access to a strong minor basketball system, a couple of universities, summer camps, many opportunities play, etc but they also train and play with other Northside kids (LHHS) who allow them to make club teams that can compete vs top teams all year long. The amount of spring leagues, open gyms, and competitive opportunities offered in the city also allows them places to play. Their coach was also the AD and is now the principal at the school, so you know sports and opportunities are going to be a priority.
