I know the Cardston Ladies tournament is this weekend the 7th and 8th. I know Raymond plays St. Mary's 1st. Can someone update us on the rest of the draw, who are noted teams and predictions?! Basketball

Shaq,
Ouch! Are you from Immanuel? Or do you really think that they can knock off Cardston and Magrath?
And oh by the way, Raymond was hoping to beat Cardston in their own final but I guess Immanuel will do!

South Fan,

Well I did say it would be the upset! Actually I think that all three of those teams can play with each other. Magrath has split with Cardston. Magrath played Immanuel twice and won by 1 and won by 4. I think they are all close. We will know by Saturday!

Let's hope for more close games.

I would also like to add that St. Mary's will give Raymond a good game. They played Centennial to 9 points in the Higher Hoops tournament.

It looks like there will be some very good games then.
Yes, D it Up, I think St. Mary's will tougher than most teams think, they are well coached and play hard!
What makes Centennial such a good team? Do they have great forwards or guards or what, what did they do so well to beat Western in the Calgary final?

Centennial has it all. They have size, with the Gray sisters (both extremely athletic as well, one is 6'2" and can jump, the other 6' but very solid) and start two guards with provincial team experience, as well as a deep bench.

They also have an excellent coach. Their only downfall is that they tend to play down to their competition and lose focus during the game. In other words they beat themselves.

I've heard something about a player knocking in something like 10 3Pt shots in one game and the team having like 17 3pts in total in that game. Is this true? Which player and team has that kind of fire power? It sounds unbelievable but if true that is amazing.

PostSubject: Raining 3s in Cardston   Thu Jan 13, 2011 12:41 am

In that game, #3 Alicia Tan, scored 39 points, including 10 from downtown. Two other girls combined for 5 more threes. Yes the zone allowed the threes but the real story was that she only shot about 15 shots. She was on fire. It was a pretty impressive performance. The other amazing thing is that she can make so many shots from so far away. She is very, very small. She shoots it from the hip and has a big smile on he face as she does it!
