how in the world are you guys forgetting probably the best basektball player in the city. Christian Kondo was an elite player last year and this year he is the best guard without a guard. Also, many people are writting that Vikas frm SH is in the top 4 players list. Belive me I have seen him play, he just does not have the strenth and speed.

I rank Christian (and others) before Vik on my list. Please read posts carefully.

BTW;
C.K is not the best guard in the city. Not best p. guard (for example: Stoqua is better), nor shooting guard (for example: Peloso is better). He is one of most athletic and talented players but not the best guard in the city.

I don't no what u mean elite player!!
If u mean provincial/national/ontario development teams player or all stars teams, or something like that, than Vik has much better resume. Or any of the players from my top 10 list has much better resume than C. Kondo. Any of them!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If fact, Christian is the only player from the 10 top on my list without any "elite" player experience. Not even made all stars team last year.

All these "elite" gismos does not change his presence among best basketball players in the city. But not the best guard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL

Christian is a very athletic player and a great defender, but not a terrific passer or shooter. You said that he isn't an elite player in terms of provincial teams, or club teams; but Christian plays with guardsmen along with around 10 other players on your list

1.Craig (St. Pauls), Jamal (SRB), Alex (St. Joes), (they really should make top 10!!!!!!)
2. Emad (Hill), AJ (Franco) (just, just behind top 10, but not as gud as above)
3. Ryan (EOM), Matt (Ashbury), Eric (All Saints) (all these posts need something to improve to make top 10, but their size makes them gud for university basketball!!!!!)

Very interesting list hmm. No one would ever agree with every selection on a top ten list which is what makes them so popular on discussion boards. To me, just the athleticism and offensive skill alone of some of the guys in your honourable mention list might put them ahead of some of your top ten. Lual (LBP), Owen (EOM), Josh (Bell), Matt (Ashbury), and the SRB players you listed all are very athletic and as talented as the guys on your top ten list. Not to mention the value that they have on their teams as well. Who would I eliminate from the top ten list you provide? Well, in my mind, they are all worthy players but only Justin, Nikola, and Gavin are guaranteed to be on that list. The others are in the same group as the players I mentioned above and all are interchangeable. There are also guys in the city that have not made these lists yet they are as talented as many of the guys who are on the list (Amin Majidi from SRB, #15 from Bell, the guard from All Saints, Johnny for LBP, the other guard from LBP, and so on). Nonetheless, your list, and the others on this thread, indicate that there are some very talented players in this city competing for some quality teams.

In my opinion, the top players (this time by position) are:
Centers:
1. Ryan Evans (6'10)-EOM
2. Matt Mclean (6'7)-Ashbury
3. Loual (6'8 )-LBP
4. Eric Hobson (6'6)- All Saints
5. Calin Deguefe (6'8 )- SRB

Power Forwards:
1. Justin Shaver (6'6)- Nepean
2. Nikola Misljencevic (6'6)- SRB
3. Jean Pierre Charles (6'7)- Ashbury
4. Vikas (6'5)- Sacred Heart
5. Payton Lemieux (6'4)- Glebe

Small Forwards:
1. Christian Kondo (6'1)- St.Pats
2. Claudio (6'3)- Notre Dame
3. Amir Majidi (6'4)- SRB
4. Malcom (6'2)- Sir Will
5. Josh Shiposh (6'0)- Bell

Shooting Guards
1. Gavin (6'2)- St.Matts
2. Mehdi Tihani (6'2)- Colonel By
3. Johnny (6'2)- LBP
4. AJ (6'1)- FW
5. Owen Powers (6'1)- EOM

Point Guards
1. Sean Stoqua (5'10)- Sacred Heart
2. Jamal Aden (5'10)- SRB
3. Craig Peloso (5'9)- St. Pauls
4. Emad (?)- Hillcrest
5. Amin Majidi (6'2)- SRB

There were some hard decisions on this list (especially shooting guards and small forwards), and some of the players that I have listed (e.g Amin Majidi) don't play that exact position that I hve put for them, but I felt as if they deserved to be mentionned.

Every school this year has about 2-3 good players and those players are deciding how far their teams are going. Just to show who is carrying the load for each team.
AAA/AAAA
SRB: Nikola, Amir, Jamal, grade 10 guy
Bell: Sham, Josh
Sacred Heart: Vik, Sean Stoqua, couple other club players
St Pius: 1 Gmen player
St Joseph: Alex, 2 guys who played Celtics last year
St Patrick's: Christian, Marial
Hillcrest: Isack and couple other grade 11's
St Mathew:Gavin, Matt price
Nepean: Justin, another Gmen player
Colonel Bye: Mehdi, Omar
AA/A
LBP: Johnny, Darren, Lual
Immaculata: Tyrell, other guard
Notre Dame: Claudio, Peter
Deslaurier: ?
Ashbury: Jean, and Tall left handed post player

Those are the best teams and those are the players that are getting them their victories. Up to these guys to decide which teams are going to contend.
opinions?

Nice list, tritacke. I would include Daemar Thomas (5'11" SF, St. Pat's) and Tyrell Johnson-Barrett (6'0" SG, Immaculata) in there somewhere. Is Bilaal Amin ("Wallace") still at Hillcrest?

Your list seems pretty solid, but I don't really agree with that first statement. Since each team does have 2 or 3 great players, I think how far a team will go depends on their depth. The deadliest players are the ones who go unnoticed.

some players that go unoticed tht i think could be put up there with some top players in the city are issack and emad from hillcrest farhan from srb braeden wilkinson st pats even tho a junior darren LBP ryan jordan and jordan wilkinson st pius. i am very surprised that issack darren ryan or jordan did not make the top 15 or get honorable mentions all those players are tough players to guard.

yeah but most of the teams this year are not that deep, they go about 5-6 deep with 2-3 stars..i'm referring to teams from past years that go about 8-9 deep and can afford to lose some guys to injuries and such

In the games I have seen so far this year, most of the teams that are making the top lists on the other thread have been playing some quality guys off the bench. St. Pats, SRB, and SH have played no less than 9 guys in the games I saw. Still, even with a short bench, teams can manage to be quite effective as St. Matts proved last year by winning ofsaa gold with only using 6 guys.

PostSubject: Thehoop-la rankings   Mon Jan 11, 2010 6:38 pm

A few forwards from Ottawa got some good recognition Sunday on Hamilton's basketball website: thehoop-la.com

On the website they ranked the top 70 graduates from Ontario. Under Forwards the following players were ranked:

Justin Shaver #2 in Ontario
Devon Steadman #7 in Ontario
Jean-Pierre Charles #8 in Ontario

Jahenns Manigat who attended Immaculata until the end of his grade 11 year was ranked as the #1 graduating guard in Onatrio as well (however, he would be a grade 12 returner, not a natural grade 12).

Congrats Fellas and best of luck where ever you end up next season.

After reading the list that "thehoop-la" has posted, I find it to be a very good list but it heavily favours GTA region players. The players from Ottawa on the list are ranked appropriately but there are a lot of players from Ottawa that should be mentionned on that list. As for Pius, they are a solid team but I think that they lack serious post presence as their tallest guy plays more of a 3 guard. They are an average team and could seriously content for a playoff birth in the west.

They have 2 guardsman players and some shooting stars players.
Ryan Jordan is scoring every game more than 20pts. last game he scored 44pts having 7 3-pointers in the 4th quarter.
how really gud as a tem they r, we will see on Thursday, when they meet Bell.
