The number of berths allocated to each level has been set.

To see how many berths go to each region at the "A", "AA" & "AAA" levels, and which teams end up earning the berths, go to the following link:

Thats great for the Lower mainland and Fraser Valley but a little dissapointing for the Island. There are a few very good teams and could very easily had 3 strong Island teams. ( Mt Doug, Oak Bay , Dover , Cleremont , Vanier )

whats the scoop with the Independent schools. Where do they compete for berths and is it still that only 1 gets in ??

It does suck for the Island, as the 3rd place team would most certainly be worthy - but the numbers speak for themselves as far as # of teams in each area.

In the Lower Mainland, they have a 12-team playoff tourney. This means that the Independent schools get 1 berth into the 12-team event. When it used to be a 16-team tourney they got I think 1.5 berths. This reduction in the size of the Lower Mainland playoffs was something that the Lower Mainland coaches voted to put in place a couple of years ago.

From the 12-team Lower Mainland playoff tourney, 5 teams will qualify for the BCs.
