Not sure how accurate my sources are but....

I believe Smiths Falls plays Perth starting Monday in their best of 3 championship I'm assuming Notre Dame won the "A"

In Kingston, it looks like their quarter-finals are Tuesday, semis Thursday, and finals Saturday...??

In LG, the AA playoffs are at Semis with St. Mike's @ BCI and Quarter-final winner @ South. In "A" playoffs there, it's A-G at Athens and Gan at Rideau.

In Upper Ottawa Valley, Tuesday semis have #4 Mackenzie (A) @ #1 Fellowes (AAA) and #3 General Panet (A) @ #2 Renfrew (AA)

Not sure about Cornwall and Prescott...

PostSubject: Junior A EOSSAA Favourites   Mon Feb 14, 2011 2:26 pm

My guys were at a tune-up tournament in Cornwall over the weekend and we got to see the Holy Trinity Junior A team from Cornwall out of the SD&G. I have a hard time imagining any Junior A team in Eastern Ontario giving them a game at EOSSAA. They are well-coached as usual, and have a speedy group of talented kids. They lack size in the post but in junior at the A level you can usually overcome that with strong ball pressure. I'd pick them to grab the trophy - especially playing on their home court. They have some extra incentive this time around as this will be Trinity's last year at the A level - they move up to AA next year.

Smiths Falls beat Perth by 8 in the 2nd game of best of 3 series.

Smiths Falls now moves on to EOSSAA where they will most likely be a #1 seed.

Perth played very tough and kept it close for most of the game. However, Smiths Falls experience and Dufort's passing set up some easy buckets under the hoop.

Smiths Falls now hosts EOSSAA on Thursday Feb 24-25.

Potential seeding

1#- Smiths Falls
3#- Kingston or Brockville Rep?
6# Hawkesbury\Casselman rep?

2# Kingston or Brockville Rep?
4# Renrew rep?
5# Cornwall rep?

BCI and South Grenville play tonight
Kingston league is in semis. Ernestown or LCVI will come out of that league

not too sure about the 3 other leagues.

lc will take home the hardware, this time around dez won't let his team lose twice in the finals. The key for them is to slow down vince which they can with sangee martin a verry good defender. other than vince smith falls dosen't have anyone who can create their own shot the key is to stop drible penatration from vince which leads to open 3's. smith falls wont be surprising anyone this year with there fast breaks which accumulate's for a large portion of there points. lc is a verry tough team that enjoys the big games, i havent been impresed with smith falls this season other than vince. As for Bci i think there comming under the radar this season although i have yet to see them play this year i know that there well coached. and should be looking to avenge that overtime loss to lc in last years eossa.

If BCI doesn't somewhat self-destruct in the second half of last year's semifinal against LCVI (struggling with a delay game and dealing with significant injuries), and if the game isn't at LCVI (where their fans were amazing at emotionally lifting their own team back into the game), we would have seen BCI and SF at OFSAA. Learning how to protect a lead is a growing process, and BCI will be better this year as a result.

I predict that SG wins their pool, and faces BCI in the semi, where the rematch of their own association's final will see SG avenge their playoff loss. In the other semi, SF will beat LC, and go on to win it all against SG. Given that SF is the host, I think it's highly unlikely that they lose to anyone before they get to OFSAA, where they would have to be a potential medallist.

First things first Smiths Falls is ranked 1st for a reason while LC and BCI are ranked 2nd and 3rd .. Smiths Falls has won a hand full of tournaments and beaten LC previously this year and has beaten many teams that BCI has lost to. Yes Vincent Dufort is a great player in his 5th year, but he isn't the "only player" on the team. Smiths Falls has a bunch of great shooters which help stretch the floor. Their backcourt is very talented with the play of guard #2 and Vincent Dufort who both can create their own shot of the dribble. They lack size on their frontcourt but Vincent Dufort does fill that gap playing most of the games that I saw in the post. As to their defense it is shaky at times but is usually soild, soild enough to win EOSSAA and move onto OFSAA. It will be a great EOSSAA to watch with hopefully many compeitive games but I'm taking Smiths Falls to win it this year.

I too pick SF to win this year, but let's not fool ourselves...as Dufort goes so does Smith Falls. Limit him and you have a chance, but that is easier said than done!
