Preparations for the 2011 Final 8 tournament are well underway. Only 11 days until opening tip-off.

For tournament information please visit www.thefinal8.com

On the site you can find a list of accommodations and a complete calendar of events for The Final 8 weekend, including the player's banquet, Saint John Mill Rats game versus the Halifax Rainmen and the NBIAA All Star Game in Sussex. We'll also have game results, pictures and more once the games begin.

If you have any suggestions to help improve the tournament or the web site, or just want to discuss the tournament, please post your comments on this topic.

See you at Harbour Station!

PostSubject: Predictions   Sun Feb 20, 2011 10:09 pm

So what does everybody think will happen on Saturday?

TV vs RNS in AA girls - RNS beat TV by 10 in regionals; however, the long court at Harbour Station and their experience on the big stage might give them an edge. Simonds and Goodine should be a great matchup.

DPCS vs Harvey in AA boys - Have played 3 times this year with DP winning by 4 and 1, and Harvey winning in regionals by 2. This one could go either way. Harvey has the size and depth, but DP has their speed and swarming defense.

Woodstock vs Riverview in AAA girls - Riverview has been pretty dominant all year (NBIAA says they're undefeated) and beat Woodstock early in the year by nearly 40. Teams get better over the season and anything can happen in one game, but Riverview is the favorite here.

LHHS vs Bathurst in AAA boys - Have played five times, LHHS winning by 7 twice, and losing by 31, 16, and 4. Both teams are loaded with talent and this should be a great matchup.

T.V by 20 - RNS has a great team but watch out for Goodine , Ouellette and Cooper on the big stage . They have been there before and I beleive they beat a better team last year in D.P

D.P by 8 - They are peaking at the right time and there defencive pressure will win the day .

Riverview by 15 - This game will stay close for a while but Picard will be the difference .

Bathurst by 4 - This should be fun to watch .

PostSubject: Webcast   Fri Feb 25, 2011 2:05 pm

The Final 8 can not webcast video from the tournament (long story) but have reached an agreement with Harbour Station and Rogers TV to webcast the audio feed. It will be the same audio feed as on Rogers Cable.

Visit www.thefinal8.com and click on "Broadcast"

i hope Bathurst goes down...daley kid who leaves dahousie to go to greener pastures....not worth rooting for someone who shows no loyalty...that was probably the most important lesson that kid could have learned in high school (life llesson)..guess he failed that credit! Go Leo HAyes
I wish more people would speak of that this topic, because it is the biggest basketball story of the year...if he stays in Dalhousie ..they get their first banner...that would have been very special..and a memory to last a lifetime for those kids

Not saying that I agree with you necessarily, but I can tell you that you are not alone. Have had several people express the same opinion to me over the past few days

I have coached in the south years ago and have had discussions about this topic with numerous people who are on the same page as me...how do you leave one school to go to DRHS and play for Neil and a great bunch of workhorses who had a goal of getting a provincial banner. To have a bball program in that area, where Hockey is #1 is hard enough. You then leave and go back to Bathurst because they are playing AAA and have a shot to win it all....I feel bad for the Dalhousie coaches...previously Neil, now Tyler (i think thats his name) Gidean who could have won that banner. Do we need transfer rules in place like other provinces...I think we need the "Daly RULE' put in...then again, most kids have passion and loyalty to their teammates....KEY WORD---- TEAM----maybe he should look it up....I would like to hear Bathurst's side to this story..
I know alot of people are rooting against that player, not so much that team!!!

What perception "samsquatch" do you have where you do not totally agree...I would like to hear your comments, maybe it will change my mind!

I basically have no opinion on the matter, never really thought about it. I was just stating that I have had conversations with people over the past week who had said basically the same thing. I will correct you on one thing though. Matt Daley did not leave a school to go to DRHS. He went to Dalhousie in grade 9 from Jacquet River Middle School. He left this year to go to BHS but was not "going back to BHS" he had never been there.

Watched the game. THought it was very sloppy at times but both teams left it all on the floor and should be proud.
