Kitsilano @ #6 Tupper 61-78

Big crowd, one side of bleachers filled by tupper supporters, and the other side was half filled with kits supporters, mostly adults. Tupper was down only by 2 at half. Took control in the 2nd half and never let up. Tupper hit their 3's and got the boards they needed for a comfortable win.

Predictions

Game #13 3:00 pm Thompson vs Byrne Creek

Byrne Creek looks like the favourite. Although Thompson has proven that they are a solid team with great play from their posts I dont feel like they will be able to handle Kenny George and the aggressive Byrne Creek Bulldogs. Greg Patoc will need to be exceptional for the Trojans to come away with a win.

Game #14 4:45 pm Churchill vs Kitsilano

A season of highs and lows for the Churchill Bulldogs sees them in top 8 of the Lower mainland tournament. Much is expected of Bojan Sever and Angad Virk as Churchill's standout Grade 11 guard Nick Atwal looked to be out with a leg injury during their win against Point Grey. I see Kitsilano defeating Churchill.

Game #15 6:30 pm Burnaby South vs Charles Tupper

The highly talented Burnaby South Rebels lead by Manroop Clair and Ater Degal go up against Warren Liangs Tiggers. Both teams have talented athletic guards as well as solid inside presence. Look for South to get it done in convincing fashion as they well come out fast and aggressive.

Game #16 8:15 pm Vancouver College vs RC Palmer

Two top 5 teams in the province will be at battle. RC Palmer lead by their provincial starters Vijay Dhillon, Billy Cheng, Mike Zayas and Ranjodh Hare will come away with the victory. Vancouver College will give them a tough a battle but in my opinion will fall a little short.

Finals: Burnaby South vs RC Palmer

Im going to go out on a limb and bet against the Rebels. Im confident that the Griffins can get the job done.

MVP - Vijay Dhillon

Top 5 Advancing to the BC's
1-Palmer
2-South
3-VC
4-Tupper
5-Kits

I say that the South-Tupper game will be the game to watch out of all the games next Thursday (3rd). South sneaked one out of the tigers the last time they played. Tupper is out for vengeance. It's going to be a really physical game. Expect the Burnaby physicality as well as East Van Heart in this one. It'll be pretty loud at Dougy Daycare on thursday night.

Just a guess... but it will be more than a nickel candy... and less than a dinner at the Keg... but other than that... it would pure speculation... Smile

Just from experience, expect $3 to $7 as an entry fee.

- Thompson played well down the stretch and after being down for most of the game came back to win 62 to 58.
- Churchill hung around but just couldn't score enough as they lost to Kits 64 to 52.
- Tupper got down 11 after the first quarter but controlled the 2nd and 3rd quarters to take a 6 point lead. South was relentless with their pressure and Tupper had a few turnovers that turned the game around as South won by about 6.
- The Palmer vs VC game was a high scoring impressive display of offensive basketball as Palmer won 59 to 56!? Okay both teams shot the ball very poorly but it was a very physical intense game and VC had a tough 3 point shot at the buzzer that fortunately for us didn't go in. Ranjodh Hare had 16 rebounds and 12 points, Mike Zayas had 10 points and 10 rebounds and Billy Cheng had 14 points and 5 assists. Vince Tolentino had 16 and Adam Konar had 11 for VC.

VC/Palmer was a bit sloppy. The difference tonight was Ranjodh...Game MVP. JamieM was very good off the bench. He hit some timely shots. Tolentino's foul trouble hurt the Irish. Congrats to Palmer on punching their ticket to the BC's.

Tough road to the backdoor game out of the Lower Mainland. That will be a team well tested.

St. George's v Kitsilano is 26-19 Kits at the half. The game is intense and physical, but has been decided by a better shooting Kits team. Kits is cleaer stronger than Byrne Creek or David Thompson.

Maybe I don't know Basketball BC very well, but why does Saints get a chance to play Kits for a chance at provincials when only 1 team from the independent league goes to Lower Mainlands ?

Basketball BC has nothing to do with this decision.

Basketball BC governs club basketball and the provincial development programs.

BC Boys Basketball Association governs high school basketball.

And to answer your question to the best of my ability... politics, lawyers, threats, politics... but that's just my views and thoughts.

I heard that Saint's petitioned to BC School Sports to be included in the LM tourney and thats why they have this format this year. I don't agree with it, but if they do win four games in four days then maybe they deserve to go.
