From the possible draws and the season so far it looks to be a great tournament this year. No one is a clear favourite everyone needs to bring their A game.

What is the process now ? .. Who makes the decision for the draw and when is it done ??

The old boys club... and today...

Apparently the draw has been finalized but nothing posted yet.

initially puzzled when I looked at the rankings...ie.Tupper at 12 and having Fox ahead of South. But the committee tries their best to avoid inter-Zone games among the Top 12 teams when they play each other on Wednesday & Thursday. I don't have a problem with the draw. Wide open field. Big drop off after Top 7(excluding Tupper at 12). It could be a Mainland Final 4. Don't count out Zone Winners(Dover & Argyle)...they're a bit overrated in these rankings..but they come in with a ton of momentum and confidence.

PostSubject: 14th Seed   Sun Mar 06, 2011 5:52 pm

The 14th seed, which says Kitsilano, has not been decided yet. St. George's defeated #7 Byrne Creek on Saturday and #6 David Thomspon today by 41 pts in the Lower Mainland backdoor tournament. They now must play Kitsilano twice and win both games back-to-back on Monday and Tuesday, at which point they would earn the 5th berth in the provincials. Seems fair enough to me.....

Actually it has been decided... it's does belong to Kitsilano. Just like VI 2 belongs to Claremont.

St. Geroge's and Oak Bay are challenging the owners of those berths.

These are NOT rankings.

These are the seedings to the tournament.

Seedings and rankings are two totally different things.

PostSubject: 14th Seed   Sun Mar 06, 2011 6:23 pm

It may be semantics, but if something is decided, there is no challenge available. The point I am making still holds regardless of the wording. The winner of the LM backdoor tournament gets the 14th seed, not Kitsilano. Hopefully next year there will be no semantics involved and a fair system to play-in will be developed.

Howard Tsumura doesn't do rankings once the regional playoffs are completed, he already posted his final rankings. You will have to just look at his final rankings then attempt to figure out what they would be if they were released this Monday, taking in to account the results from each of the regional playoffs.

The seeding is the next best thing you'll get, unfortunately.

6. FV 2 (so not to be on the same side as FV 1)

9. LM 4
10. FV 4
11. VI 2
12. FV 5

Tuesday's teams:
13-20 (in no particular order)
HS

NC
KOOT
LM5
FV6
FV7
FV8

Lyle your ranking posted are by far the most accurate. If Palmer wins the LM then OK #1 (if KSS) should move to #1 seed with LM #1 and #2 at seed 2 & 3. Sorry FV but based on the season your champion should be no higher than #4.

OK really has no chance at #1 as they will not put LM1 and LM2 on the same side of the draw, given the strength of those two games. LM1 WILL get the #1 seed.

Keep mind there are a lot more factors than just a ranking that the committee will use to make the seeding. One of the factor is that they want the best four teams in the semis. Some people may not agree with that thought process but it is fact that they do use that as one of the factors. Others would be current health of a team, zone finish, quality wins. I'm sure there are others I'm failing to mention. It is quite a process - and someone is guaranteed not to be happy when it's over.

Palmer has to be favoured.
Fox has their wake up call and will be better.
Kelowna must be motivated after South handed it to them in their own barn.
If Burnaby South can keep their heads they will be tough.
VC is good. Private schools should be good but they are not good enough.
Mouat? You never know. They are on a roll...
Saints..Hopefully Kits gets in because changing the rules mid tournament is wrong.

It will be a great tournament and I predict there will be upsets galore.

Pitt lost one game, to Moaut, I would have had them in the round of 12 and Argyle out. But the way things are now, Dover Bay go the #4 seed will will have to play the #7 team in BC (Pitt) in their first game. Then Fox or Tupper in the 2nd game. Ouch.

I also would not have had Burnaby South as low as 6.

If you look at the "mock-up" I did you will get a pretty good idea of what I thought based on the teams that qualifed. You can see it on my site - just go through to the BC "AAA" tourney page and look for SPECULATION DRAW. I think it would have been a little bit better than what came out.

But with that being said... this is one of the better draws I have seen the committee do over the years. They have done some REALLY, really bad ones before.

Also - they did a better job getting VC into the mix than the one I did.

They are not getting ANOTHER chance, they are not even getting the chance that the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th place teams are getting. They finished second (which could mean they are second best team in the province - not that they are) in their division and now they have to win four games in four days and beat the #5 seed twice just to get a chance for the #5 berth. That is not getting another shot.

WRCA plays in the Fraser Valley league, don't they? Could someone please explain to me why St. G's and VC don't just compete in the LM league, and if they are in the top 12 at the end of they year they make the playoffs?

Wow, Tupper and Pitt at 12-13? Any reason why they're ranked so low? Pitt doesn't have it as bad though since they play Caledonia and most likely to play unranked Dover Bay, while Tupper plays Fox..
