Wow... I'm surprised. I really thought Jesse Coy would make this team. He is a fantastic offensive threat and from what it seems, a very coachable young man. I believe the Barnaby Craddock will regret not choosing him.

AND NO NICK IRVINE?????????????!?!?!?!?!!!??!?!?!!!?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!!!!

Hmm... Interesting.

Amazing how Irvine plays u17 when he is only 16 but can't make the team the next year. Poor choice by the coaches in my opinion, Nick was
a big key to Souths success and helped them
when many of the big tournaments.

Nick is obviously one of the better players in the Province. However, if he had a really bad tryout, how does a coaching staff justify keeping him over these other guys who are also some of the better players in the Province? I'm not saying he had a bad tryout, I have no idea, just saying that could be one of the reasons...

I would say tryout maybe contributed to 20% of these players being picked for the provincial team. Coaches know these players well and how they play throughout the season. I wonder Burnaby South not showing well in the provincial tournament has something to do with it. If they’d gone all the way to the final, would he not be picked?

I don't think that's the case b/c they took players (Newman, Manshrek, Mitrovic) whose teams didnt make provincials

That's a real solid team, that the u17's have. Anyhow, I'd like to give Mitch Knippleberg and David Manshreck for making team BC since they were u14. It's always great to see kids constantly improving as they have.

It can't be 20% based on tryouts because then their is little to no point for kids outside of the areas where the Provincial coaches live and coach to tryout. It has to be mostly based on the Supercamp then the tryout after that.

Agreed, as well as Isaiah and Denzel for working hard over the summer to make it back on the team after being cut last year. This may be one of the biggest, athletic teams that BBC has had in a while; 7', 6'11" and a handful above 6'6" that are athletic. Two of the best guards in Mitch G & K as well as energy players in Denzel and Isaih!

Interesting selections. No disrespect to any of these players, but it is clear that BC Basketball is now competing with the other clubs for the best players. How many actually try-out for a BC team? It would be great if there would be some way where all the top Grade 10's in the province could compete for 1 team......it would be very good. Now, all the top players are dispersed through all of the various clubs.

Too bad Braxston is injured. I'm sure the outcome could've been a lot closer. And too bad Jesse Coy was cut. I think his quick hands on defense and 3 point shot could've added some depth.
And to quote DETERIMATION's post " What no Nick Irvine"????????????????
Would've should've could've
Anyways...Glad to see you come back and put away Team Alberta!
